I approached this book both as an avid fantasy reader and as a huge fan of Myke Cole’s Shadow Ops series. While this books is pretty much a 180 degree turn from Shadow Ops, it was nonetheless excellent – a testament to the reality that authors shouldn’t feel pigeonholed into a single genre.
